Overview of the Facilitators Menu

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Facilitator Functions

To see the Facilitators Menu, enter the campus of a Group in which you have been approved as a Facilitator. The Facilitators Menu will appear in the sidebar menu. (To learn more about how to become a facilitator, see Applying to be a Facilitator.)

The Facilitators Menu contains several functions that are not available to non-facilitators. They are:

Manage Classes

This function allows you to create new classes (remember, a class is a single instance of an existing course). You can also define the grading protocol for the class, change the parameters of a class (for example, the maximum number of students or the begin and end dates) or delete a class that you have created. Learn more about managing classes in Manage Classes.

Approve Enrollments

When you create a class, you determine whether students who enroll in it are accepted automatically or must await your approval of their enrollment. The Approve Enrollments function allows you to approve or deny students who have applied for enrollment in your class but have not yet been accepted.  Learn more about this option in Approve Enrollments.

Maintain Student Rosters

The Maintain Student Rosters function allows you to view information about your students. For example, you can:
  • view your students' profiles (contact information, address, age, gender, and other information they entered when they first created their IBS account)
  • see the date on which each student enrolled in your class
  • see a student's payment status and class completion status
  • send a message to an individual student or to the class as a whole, using the IBS notification system
You can also use this function to drop a student from your class, if necessary. Learn more in Maintain Student Rosters.

Assess Performance

You will define the grading protocol (what items are graded, whether grades are pass/fail or percentage, etc.) for your class using the Manage Classes function. After you have defined the grading protocol, you can use the Assess Performance function to view or enter grades, as well as class completion status, for the students enrolled in your class. Learn more about this function in Enter Student Grades (Assess Performance).
