11:1 Dishonest scales¹ are an abomination to the LORD,
but a perfect weight² is His delight.
11:2 When pride³ comes,⁴ then comes disgrace,⁵
but with humility⁶ comes⁷ wisdom.
11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them,⁸
but the crookedness of the unfaithful will destroy them.⁹
11:4 Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath,¹⁰
but righteousness delivers from death.
11:5 The righteousness of the blameless shall make straight their way,¹¹
but the wicked shall fall by their¹² own wickedness.¹³
11:6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them,¹⁴
but the faithless shall be captured by their desires.
11:7 When a wicked person dies, his expectation perishes,¹⁵
and the hope of his strength¹⁶ perishes.¹⁷
11:8 The righteous person is delivered¹⁸ out of trouble,
And the wicked comes in his stead.¹⁹
11:9 With his mouth the godless person²⁰ destroys²¹ his neighbor,
but through knowledge²² shall the righteous be delivered.
11:10 When the righteous do well,²³ the city rejoices;²⁴
when the wicked perish, there is joy.
11:11 By the blessing of the upright²⁵ a city is exalted,
but by the mouth of the wicked²⁶ it is destroyed.
11:12 Whoever despises²⁷ his neighbor lacks understanding,
but the one who has discernment²⁸ keeps silent.²⁹
11:13 Whoever goes about as a slanderer³⁰ reveals³¹ secrets,
but the one who is trustworthy³² conceals a matter.
11:14 When there is no guidance³³ a nation falls,
but there is victory³⁴ in the abundance of counselors.
11:15 The one who puts up security for a stranger³⁵ will surely have trouble,³⁶
but whoever avoids³⁷ striking hands will be secure.
11:16 A gracious woman³⁸ gains honor,
but powerful men gain wealth.³⁹
11:17 A kind person⁴⁰ benefits⁴¹ himself,
but one who is cruel brings trouble to himself.⁴²
11:18 The wicked person⁴³ earns deceitful wages,⁴⁴
but the one who sows⁴⁵ righteousness reaps⁴⁶ a sure reward.⁴⁷
11:19 True⁴⁸ righteousness leads to⁴⁹ life,
but the one who pursues evil pursues it⁵⁰ to his own death.⁵¹
11:20 Those who are perverse in heart⁵² are an abomination to the LORD,
but those who are blameless in their ways⁵³ are His delight.⁵⁴
11:21 Be assured,⁵⁵ the evil person shall not go unpunished,⁵⁶
but those who are righteous,⁵⁷ will escape
11:22 Like a ring of gold in a pig’s snout⁵⁸
is a beautiful woman who turns aside from discretion.⁵⁹
11:23 The desire of the righteous leads⁶⁰ only to good,
but the hope of the wicked to wrath.
11:24 There is one person who scatters⁶¹ and yet increases,⁶²
and there is another who withholds more than is necessary,⁶³
and comes to poverty.⁶⁴
11:25 A giving person⁶⁵ shall flourish,⁶⁶
and the one who provides water⁶⁷ for others
will also himself be satisfied.⁶⁸
11:26 People will curse⁶⁹ the one who withholds grain,⁷⁰
but blessing⁷¹ will be on the head of the one who sells.
11:27 The one who diligently seeks⁷² good seeks favor,
but the one who searches⁷³ for evil—it will come to him.⁷⁴
11:28 The one who trusts in his riches will fall,
but the righteous⁷⁵ will flourish like a leaf.⁷⁶
11:29 The one who troubles⁷⁷ his household inherits the wind,⁷⁸
and the fool⁷⁹ shall be a servant to the wise.
11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,⁸⁰
and whoever wins souls⁸¹ is wise.
11:31 If the righteous shall receive their due on earth,
how much more⁸² the ungodly and the sinner!⁸³
