29:1 Now this is the ritual¹ that you will do to them to sanctify them so that they may minister to me as priests. Take a young² bull and two rams without blemish;³ 29:2 and⁴ unleavened bread, and perforated cakes unleavened mingled with oil, and wafers unleavened spread⁵ with oil—you will make them using⁶ fine wheat flour you will make them. 29:3 And you will put them into one basket, and present⁷ them in the basket, along with⁸ the bull and the two rams.

29:4 And Aaron and his sons you will bring near⁹ to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting; and you will wash¹⁰ them with water.

29:5 And you will take the garments and will clothe Aaron with the tunic,¹¹ and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the pouch; and fasten the ephod on him by the skillfully woven waistband.¹² 29:6 And put the turban on his head, and put the holy crown¹³ on the turban.

29:7 And you will take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.¹⁴

29:8 And you will bring his sons near and you will clothe them with tunics

29:9 and gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons,¹⁵ and put headbands on them; and so the ministry of priesthood will belong to them by a perpetual ordinance. Thus¹⁶ you will consecrate¹⁷ Aaron and his sons.

29:10 And you will bring the bull in front of the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons will put¹⁸ their hands on the head¹⁹ of the bull; 29:11 and you will kill the bull before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 29:12 And you will take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar²⁰ with your finger, and all the rest of²¹ the blood you will pour out at the base of the altar. 29:13 And you will take all the fat that covers the inward parts, and the lobe that is above the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, and burn them²² on the altar. 29:14 But the meat of the bull, and its skin, and its offal you will burn with fire outside the camp.²³ It is the purification offering.²⁴

29:15 And you will take one ram, and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on its head, 29:16 and you will kill the ram, and you will take its blood and dash it against the altar all around. 29:17 Then you will cut the ram into pieces, and wash the inward parts and its legs, and put them on its pieces and on its head. 29:18 And you will burn²⁵ the whole ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering²⁶ to Yahweh, a soothing aroma; it is an offering made by fire²⁷ to Yahweh.²⁸

29:19 And you will take the second ram; and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the ram. 29:20 Then you will kill the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and on the tip of the right ear of his sons, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot,²⁹ and then dash the blood against the altar all around. 29:21 And you will take some of the blood which is on the altar, and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle³⁰ it³¹ on Aaron, and on his garments, and on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him, so that he may be holy,³² he and his garments, and his sons, and the garments of his sons with him.

29:22 And you will take from the ram the fat, and the fat tail, and the fat that covers the inner parts, the lobe³³ above the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, and the right thigh—for it is the ram for ordination;³⁴ 29:23 and one round flat cake of bread, and one perforated cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, from the basket of unleavened bread that is before Yahweh. 29:24 And you will put all these³⁵ in the hands³⁶ of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons, and you will wave them as a wave offering³⁷ before Yahweh. 29:25 Then you will take them from their hands and burn³⁸ them³⁹ on the altar for a burnt offering, for a soothing aroma before Yahweh, it is an offering made by fire to Yahweh. 29:26 And you will take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s ordination, and you will wave it as a wave offering before Yahweh; and it will be your share. 29:27 And you will sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the thigh of the contribution,⁴⁰ which were waved and lifted up as a contribution, from the ram of ordination from that which belongs to Aaron and from that which belongs to his sons. 29:28 And it will be the share⁴¹ for Aaron and for his sons from the Israelites, by a perpetual ordinance; for it is a contribution; and it will be a contribution from the Israelites from their peace offerings, their contribution to Yahweh.

29:29 And the holy garments that belong to Aaron will belong to his sons after him, so that they might be anointed⁴² in them and ordained⁴³ in them. 29:30 The priest who succeeds him⁴⁴ from his sons, when he first comes⁴⁵ to the Tent of Meeting to minister in the Holy Place will wear them for⁴⁶ seven days.

29:31 You will take the ram of the ordination and cook⁴⁷ its flesh in a holy place.⁴⁸ 29:32 And Aaron and his sons will eat the meat of the ram, and the bread that was in the basket, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. 29:33 And they will eat those things by which atonement was made,⁴⁹ to ordain and to sanctify them; but no one else⁵⁰ may eat them, for they are holy. 29:34 And if any of the meat of the ordination offerings⁵¹ or any of the bread is left over⁵² until the morning, then you will burn what is left over with fire. It must not be eaten,⁵³ because it is holy.

29:35 And thus you will do to Aaron and his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; you will ordain them for⁵⁴ seven days. 29:36 And you will prepare every day a bull for a sin offering⁵⁵ for atonement;⁵⁶ and you will purge⁵⁷ the altar by making atonement⁵⁸ for it, and you will anoint it to sanctify it. 29:37 For⁵⁹ seven days you will make atonement for the altar and sanctify it. Then the altar will be most holy.⁶⁰ Anything that touches the altar will be holy.⁶¹

29:38 Now this is what you will prepare⁶² on the altar every day continually: two lambs a year old. 29:39 The one lamb you will prepare in the morning, and the second lamb you will prepare between the evenings.⁶³ 29:40 And with the one lamb offer a tenth⁶⁴ of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a hin⁶⁵ of oil from pressed olives, and a fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 29:41 And the second lamb you will offer between the evenings; you will prepare it like the meal offering of the morning and like its drink offering, for a soothing aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

29:42 This will be a regular⁶⁶ burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting before Yahweh, where I will meet⁶⁷ with you to speak to you there. 29:43 And there I will meet⁶⁸ with the Israelites, and it will be sanctified by my glory.⁶⁹

29:44 So I will sanctify⁷⁰ the Tent of Meeting and the altar; and I will sanctify Aaron and his sons, that they might minister as priests to me. 29:45 And I will reside⁷¹ among the Israelites; and I will be their God. 29:46 And they will know that I am Yahweh their God, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, so that I might reside among them. I am Yahweh their God.
