30:1 And you will make an altar for burning incense;¹ you will make it out of² acacia wood.³ 30:2 Its length will be a foot and a half,⁴ and its breadth will be a foot and a half; it will be square. And its height will be three feet.⁵ Its horns will be of one piece with it.⁶ 30:3 And you will overlay it with pure gold, its top,⁷ and its sides, and its horns. And you will make for it a crown of gold all around.⁸ 30:4 And you will make for it two golden rings under its crown, on its two flanks, you will make them on the two sides.⁹ And the rings¹⁰ will be for places for the poles with which to carry it. 30:5 And you will make the poles out of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.

30:6 And you will put it in front of the veil, that is before the ark of the testimony (before the place of propitiation that is over the testimony), where I will meet you.

30:7 And Aaron will burn sweet incense¹¹ on it morning by morning; when he attends¹² to the lamps he will burn incense.¹³ 30:8 And when Aaron sets up the lamps between the evenings he will burn incense on it; it is to be a regular incense before Yahweh throughout your generations. 30:9 You will not offer on it strange incense, nor burnt offering, nor meal offering; neither will you pour out a drink offering on it. 30:10 And Aaron will make atonement on its horns once in the year, from the blood of the sin offering of atonements;¹⁴ once in the year¹⁵ he will make atonement on it throughout your generations. It is most holy to Yahweh.”¹⁶

30:11 Yahweh spoke¹⁸ to Moses, saying, 30:12 “When you take a census¹⁹ of the Israelites according to their number,²⁰ then each man will pay a ransom²¹ for his life to Yahweh when you number them,²² in order that there be no plague among them when you number them. 30:13 Every one who crosses over to those who are numbered²³ will pay this: a half shekel²⁴ after the shekel of the sanctuary²⁵ (a shekel weighs twenty gerah). The half-shekel will be an offering²⁶ to Yahweh. 30:14 Every one who crosses over to those numbered, from twenty years old and up, will pay an offering to Yahweh. 30:15 The rich will not increase it,²⁷ and the poor will not pay less than the half shekel when giving²⁸ the offering of Yahweh, to make atonement²⁹ for your lives. 30:16 And you will receive the atonement money³⁰ from the Israelites, and give it for the service³¹ of the Tent of Meeting. It will be a memorial³² for the Israelites before Yahweh, to make atonement³³ for your lives.”

30:17-21

30:17 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 30:18 “You will also make a bronze³⁵ laver with³⁶ a bronze stand for washing. And you will put it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar; and you will put water in it.³⁷ 30:19 And Aaron and his sons will wash their hands and their feet from it.³⁸ 30:20 When they enter³⁹ the Tent of Meeting, they will wash with⁴⁰ water so that they do not die;⁴¹ or, when they draw near⁴² to minister by burning incense⁴³ as an offering made by fire⁴⁴ to Yahweh, 30:21 they will wash⁴⁵ their hands and their feet so that they do not die. And this⁴⁶ will be a perpetual ordinance for them ad for their descendants⁴⁷ throughout their generations.”⁴⁸

30:22 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 30:23 “Take⁵⁰ chief spices⁵¹ twelve and a half pounds⁵² of liquid myrrh; and sweet-smelling cinnamon, about half of that, about six and a quarter pounds; and sweet-smelling cane, six and a quarter pounds; 30:24 and cassia twelve and a half pounds, after the standard⁵³ of the sanctuary; and four quarts⁵⁴ of olive oil. 30:25 And you will make this⁵⁵ into⁵⁶ a sacred anointing oil, a perfume of ointment-mixture, the work of the perfumer. It will be sacred anointing oil.

30:26 And with it you will anoint the Tent of the Meeting, and the ark of the testimony, 30:27 and the table with⁵⁷ all its utensils, and the lampstand with its accessories, and the altar of incense, 30:28 and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver with its base. 30:29 So you will sanctify them,⁵⁸ and they will be most holy;⁵⁹ anything that touches them will be holy.⁶⁰

30:30 And you will anoint Aaron and his sons, and⁶¹ sanctify them, that they may minister to me as priests. 30:31 And you will speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘This is to be my sacred anointing oil throughout your generations. 30:32 It will not be poured⁶² on men’s bodies, and you will not make any like it with the same composition. It is holy, and it will be holy to you. 30:33 Whoever makes perfume like it, and whoever puts any of it on a stranger,⁶³ will be cut off⁶⁴ from his people’.”

30:34 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Take⁶⁵ spices, gum resin,⁶⁶ onycha,⁶⁷ and galbanum,⁶⁸ and pure frankincense,⁶⁹ of equal amounts.⁷⁰ 30:35 And you will make it into an incense,⁷¹ a perfume,⁷² the work of the perfumer. It is to be finely ground,⁷³ and pure and sacred. 30:36 And you will beat some of it very small, and put some of it before the ark of the testimony in the Tent of Meeting where I will meet with you; it will be most holy to you. 30:37 And the perfume you will make, according to its composition you will not make it for yourselves; it will be for you holy to Yahweh. 30:38 Whoever makes anything like it, to use as perfume,⁷⁴ will be cut of from his people.
