8:510 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, Say to Aaron, Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the canals, and over the ponds and bring up the frogs over the land of Egypt. 8:6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and frogs11 came up and covered the land of Egypt.
8:7 But the magicians did the same12 with their secret art, and brought up frogs.13 So frogs14 went up over the land of Egypt.
8:8 Then Pharaoh summoned15 Moses and Aaron, and said, Pray16 to Yahweh that he may take away17 the frogs from me and from my people, and I will release18 the people that they may sacrifice19 to Yahweh. 8:9 And Moses said to Pharaoh, You may have the honor over me20when shall I pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, that the frogs be cut off21 from you and from your houses, so that22 only in the Nile will they be left?23 8:10 And he said, Tomorrow. So Moses said,24 It will be25 according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like Yahweh our God. 8:11 And the frogs will depart from you, and from your house, and from your servants, and from your people; only in the Nile will they be left.
8:12 Then Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried26 to Yahweh because of27 the frogs which he had brought on28 Pharaoh. 8:13 And Yahweh did according to the word of Moses29the frogs died out of their houses, out of their villages, and out of their fields. 8:14 The Egyptians30 piled them together in heaps,31 and the land stank. 8:15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief,32 he hardened33 his heart and did not listen to them, just as Yahweh had said.34
The Third Blow: Gnats358:16 And Yahweh said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground, and it will become36 gnats37 in all the land of Egypt. 8:17 And they did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and he struck the dust of the ground, and it became gnats, on man and on beast. All the dust of the ground became gnats in all the land of Egypt. 8:18 When38 the magicians tried to do39 the same with their secret arts, to bring forth40 gnats, but they could not. So there were gnats on man and on beast. 8:19 The magicians said41 to Pharaoh, It is the finger42 of God. But Pharaohs heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, just as Yahweh had said.
The Fourth Blow: Flies438:20 Yahweh44 said to Moses, Get up early in the morning and take your position before Pharaoh as he goes out to the water; and say to him, Thus says Yahweh, Release my people that they may serve me. 8:21 If you do not release45 my people, then I am going to send46 on you and on your servants and on your people, and on your houses swarms of flies.47 The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies, and even the ground where they are. 8:22 But I will make a distinction48 on that day with the land of Goshen, in which my people are staying,49 so that no swarms of flies will be there, that you may know that I am Yahweh in the midst of the earth. 8:23 And I will put a division50 between my people and your people. This sign will be seen51 tomorrow. 8:24 And Yahweh did so. A52 thick53 swarm of flies came into54 the house of Pharaoh, and into the houses55 of his servants;56 and throughout the land of Egypt57 the land was ruined58 because of the swarms of flies.
8:25 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron, and said, Go, sacrifice to your God in the land.59 8:26 But Moses said, That would not be the right thing to do,60 for the sacrifices we make61 to Yahweh our God would be an abomination62 to the Egyptians.63 And if we make sacrifices that are an abomination in the eyes of the Egyptians,64 will they not stone us?65 8:27 We must go66 on a three day journey67 into the desert and sacrifice68 to Yahweh our God, just as he is telling us.69
8:28 And Pharaoh said, I will release you70 that you may sacrifice71 to Yahweh your God in the desert, but you must not go very far.72 Only73 pray for me.
8:29 And Moses said, I am going to go out74 from you, and then I will pray to Yahweh, and the swarms of flies will depart from Pharaoh and from his servants and from his people tomorrow. Only let not Pharaoh play false again75 by not releasing76 the people to sacrifice to Yahweh. 8:30 So Moses went out from Pharaoh and prayed to Yahweh. 8:31 And Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh and from his servants and from his people. Not one remained. 8:32 But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and did not release the people.
