Class Completion Criteria

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Group Administrator: Academic Functions

IBS 2.7 offers limited functionality for tracking students’ completion of classes. For interactive online courses that include Lesson Self Checks and/or Unit Exams, Group Administrators may specify the minimum scores that students must achieve in order to complete the class. This functionality may be applied to both independent study courses (ONIS) and facilitated courses (ONFAC).

System-Wide Default Course Completion Criteria

The IBS System Administrator sets default criteria that apply to all online interactive classes. To see the system-wide default criteria, select Group Administrators > Academic > Assessments > Completion Criteria.

Group-Wide Default Course Completion Criteria

To set criteria for your Group that are different from the IBS defaults, select Group Administrators > Academic > Assessments > Completion Criteria. Enter the minimum scores your students must achieve to complete your classes. You may enter different criteria for Independent Study and Facilitated classes, and different scores for Lesson Self Checks and Unit Exams. After entering your criteria, click Update.

Course-Specific Values

If you wish, you may also set criteria for specific courses that are different from the IBS default and from your Group default. To do this:

  1. Select Group Administrators > Academic > Assessments > Completion Criteria.
  2. In the upper right corner of the screen, click Course values.
  3. A table appears listing all courses in your course catalog that contain Lesson Self Checks and/or Unit Exams. Locate the course you want to change, then in the Action column click Edit.
  4. At the top of the screen, enter the minimum percentages you will require for students taking this course as Independent Study and as a Facilitated class. Click Update when finished. Note: Any criteria you have entered as a course override will appear in red on this page. Your Group defaults appear in green, and the IBS defaults are blue.
  5. After entering a course override, if you need to make further changes, you may click Edit to enter different criteria, or Default to restore the course to your default Group criteria (or, if you have not entered default Group criteria, to the default IBS criteria).

Note: In Facilitated classes, the facilitator may communicate additional requirements for completion of his/her class, and therefore may decide that a student has not completed the class even if he has successfully passed the Lesson Self Checks and Unit Exams. Refer to the Online Facilitator Orientation course or the Confirm Class Completion article for more information.
