7:1 The word of the LORD came to me saying: 7:2 You, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, to the land of Israel, An end!1 The end is coming on the four corners of the earth.2 7:3 Now, the end is upon you and I will send my anger against you; I will judge3 you according to you ways, I will place all your abominations upon you. 7:4 My eye will not pity you, I will not spare you.4 For I will place your ways upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst. And you will know that I am the LORD. 7:5 Thus says the Lord GOD: a disaster,5 a single disaster is coming. 7:6 An end has come;6 The end has come, the end is upon you. It is coming! 7:7 Doom is coming upon you, O inhabitant of the land! The time is coming, the day is near,7 tumult and not harvest shouts of the mountains. 7:8 And now, I will soon pour out my wrath8 upon you, I will spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your ways. I will set all your abominations upon you. 7:9 My eye will not pity, I will not spare, according to your ways I will pay9 you, and your abominations will be in your midst, and you will know that I am the LORD who smites. 7:10 The day, it is coming, the doom will go out, the rod has blossomed, pride has budded. 7:11 Violence10 has grown into a rod of wickedness. Not from them, not from their wealth, not from their tumult, not from their eminence.11 7:12 The time has come; the day has arrived. Let not the buyer rejoice, let not the seller mourn; for wrath is upon all their12 multitude. 7:13 The seller will not return to what he has sold while both parties are alive; for the vision concerning all their13 multitude will not be revoked, nor will each man in his iniquity be made strong. 7:14 They have blown the trumpet and prepared everyone, but no one goes to battle, because my wrath is upon all their14 multitude. 7:15 The sword is outside, pestilence and famine are in the house; whoever is in the field will die by the sword, and he who is in the city, famine and pestilence will consume him. 7:16 Their survivors will escape and they will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each one over his iniquity. 7:17 All of their hands will grow weak, their knees will run with water.15 7:18 They will wear sackcloths, shuttering will cover them; all their faces will be shamed, all of their heads bald. 7:19 They will cast their silver in the streets, and their gold will be as an unclean thing.16 Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them on the day of the of the LORDs wrath. They will not be satisfied, and their bellies will not be full, because of the stumbling block of their iniquity.17 7:20 They were proud of their beautiful ornament,18 but they made it into their abominable images, their detestable things; therefore I will make it as something unclean for them. 7:21 I will give it to strangers as booty, to the wicked of the earth as spoil; and they will profane it. 7:22 I will turn19 my face from them so that they will profane my treasured place.20 Robbers will enter into it and profane it. 7:23 Make a chain,21 for the land is full of the crime22 of bloodshed and the city is full of violence. 7:24 I will bring the most wicked of the nations and they will take possession of their houses.23 I will put an end to the arrogance of the strong, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated. 7:25 Terror24 is coming. They will seek peace, but find none. 7:26 Disaster upon disaster will come and rumor upon rumor. They will seek vision from the prophet; the law will perish from the priest and counsel from the elders. 7:27 The king will mourn and the prince will wear desolation, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. According to their ways I will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them; and they will know that I am the LORD.
