26:1 When the time comes¹ that you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you occupy it and live in it, 26:2 you must take the first of all the produce that you bring out of the ground that he² is giving you, and you must place it in a basket and walk to the place where he³ has chosen to locate⁴ his name.⁵ 26:3 And you must go to the priest in office⁶ in those days and say to him, “I declare today to the LORD your⁷ God that I have come to the land that the LORD⁸ swore to our ancestors to give us.” 26:4 The priest will then take the basket from you⁹ and set it before the altar of the LORD your God. 26:5 And you shall affirm¹⁰ before the LORD, “A wandering¹¹ Aramean¹² was my father, and he went down to Egypt and sojourned there few in number; but he became there a great, powerful, and populous people. 26:6 But the Egyptians mistreated and oppressed us, assigning to us burdensome labor. 26:7 So we cried out to the LORD, God of our ancestors, and he¹³ heard us¹⁴ and saw our humiliation, toil, and oppression. 26:8 Therefore, the LORD brought us out of Egypt by powerful hand and extended arm, with great fearsomeness, signs, and wonders. 26:9 And he brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. 26:10 So now, look! I have brought the first of the produce of the ground that the LORD has given me.” And you will set it down before the LORD your God and worship¹⁵ before him.¹⁶ 26:11 Thus you will rejoice at all the good things that the LORD your God has given you and your family,¹⁷ you, the Levite, and the sojourner among you.

26:12 When you finish tithing all¹⁸ your income in the third year, the year of tithing, you must give it to the Levite, the sojourner, the orphan, and the widow so that they might eat to their satisfaction¹⁹ in your villages. 26:13 Then you shall say before the LORD your God, “I have removed the sacred thing²⁰ from my house and given it to the Levite, the orphan, and the widow just as you have commanded me;²¹ I have not violated nor forgotten your commandments. 26:14 I have eaten nothing when mourning, nor removed anything while unclean, nor offered anything to the dead;²² I have obeyed²³ you²⁴ and have done everything you have commanded me. 26:15 Look down from your holy habitation in heaven and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us, just as you promised our ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.”

26:16 Today the LORD your God is commanding you to keep these statutes and ordinances, something you must do²⁵with all your heart and being. 26:17 You have today declared the LORD to be your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, commandments, ordinances, and to obey him.²⁶ 26:18 And the LORD has today declared you to be his special people (as he already said to you) so that you might keep all his commandments, 26:19 and that he might elevate you above all the nations he has made as a cause of praise, as a name, and as an honor, and that you might be a holy people to the LORD your God as he has said.
