Unapprove / Hide Post

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Class Discussions > Moderator Functions

Occasionally, you may find it necessary to hide a post that a student has posted in a forum. The student may have posted it inadvertently, or the post may contain information that is not appropriate to share with the entire class. You may also wish to use this feature to hide the assignments your students have submitted, in order to protect their privacy and prevent plagiarism.

Note: If you are certain that you will not need to see the post in the future, you may delete it instead of hiding it. Deleted posts cannot be recovered, so use this option carefully!

To hide a post

  1. View the post that needs to be hidden.

  2. In the upper right corner of the post, click to place a checkmark in the box to select the post. If you are in Linear Mode, you may select more than one post at a time.
    Select post

  3. Near the bottom of the screen, select Unapprove Posts from the Inline Post Moderation dropdown menu. Then click the Go button.

  4. The selected post(s) will be unapproved (hidden). You can tell they are unapproved because the background color will be pink instead of white.

  5. If you need to approve a previously hidden post, follow these steps but select Approve Posts from the Inline Post moderation menu. The background color will turn white and the post will again be visible to all members of the forum.
