Accessing Study Resources

IBS 2.7 > Classroom Functions

The Study Resources are online materials which are available within every IBS course. The materials are shared among all the online courses and are not unique to each course. Any IBS student may access them from within any IBS classroom. Since several of them are websites which are external to IBS, once you know their URLs (web addresses), you may also launch them from outside the classroom in any web browser.

Do not confuse the Study Resources with the Resource Center, which is part of the Class Discussion Forums. Unlike the Study Resources, the Resource Center materials are

• unique to each class
• selected by the class facilitator
• available only in facilitated courses, not independent study courses

To access the resources, click the Study Resources link, located on the top row of the classroom screen. The list of resources will appear in the left panel.

The available resources may include:

• Bible Basics: A pronunciation guide for many names found in the Bible
• Bible Gateway and Goshen (Bible Study Tools): Websites that allow you to search for a word or phrase among many translations of the Bible. Other features, such as reading plans, devotionals, and newsletters, are also available.
• Journal of the Grace Evangelical Theological Society: An online journal featuring articles by contemporary Christian theologians.
• Logos Research Systems: A site from which you may purchase books and software to help with your studies.
• Dr. Constable's Expository:  These Bible Study Notes, written by Dr. Thomas L. Constable over a 25-year period, provide commentary on all 66 books of the Bible, and hold about 7,000 pages of material. Dr. Constable's Notes, also known as expository notes to Dr. Constable's seminary students, are intended to help you to better understand the Bible. 
• Bible.org is a community of Christians who have assembled thousands of quality biblical articles. Bible.org's vision is to equip all people with quality material, independent of their ability to pay, and it serves millions of users across the globe who read and download these materials from the site. 
• Concordance allows you to search the Bible for every occurrence of a word or phrase.
• The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia provides background on biblical books, places, items, and personalities.
