Psalms Psalm 1

1:1 How happy¹ is the one² who does not follow³ the advice⁴ of the wicked,⁵
or stand in the pathway⁶ with sinners,
or sit in the assembly⁷ of arrogant fools!⁸
1:2 Instead⁹ he finds pleasure in obeying the LORD’s commands;¹⁰
he intently studies¹¹ his commands¹² day and night.
1:3 He is like¹³ a tree planted by flowing streams;¹⁴
it¹⁵ yields¹⁶ its fruit at the proper time,¹⁷
and its leaves never fall off.¹⁸
He succeeds in everything he attempts.¹⁹
1:4 Not so with the wicked!
Instead²⁰ they are like wind-driven chaff.²¹
1:5 For this reason²² the wicked cannot withstand²³ judgment,²⁴
nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly.²⁵
1:6 Certainly²⁶ the LORD rewards the behavior of the godly,²⁷
but the behavior of the wicked is self-destructive.²⁸
