Benefits of Seeking Wisdom94
2:1 My child,1
if you receive my words
and store up2
my commands within you,
2:2 making your ear3
attentive4
to wisdom,
turning5
your heart6
to understanding;
2:3 indeed, if7
you call for8
understanding9
and10
lift your voice11
for understanding,
2:4 if you look for it12
as silver13
and search for it14
as hidden treasure,
2:5 then you will understand15
the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.16
2:6 For17
the LORD gives18
wisdom,
and from His mouth19
come20
knowledge and understanding.
2:7 He stores up21
sound wisdom22
for the upright,23
and is a shield24
for those who walk in integrity,25
2:8 to guard26
the ways of the just,27
and protect the way of His pious ones.28
2:9 Then you will understand29
righteousness and justice
and equityevery good way.30
2:10 For wisdom will enter your heart,31
and knowledge will be pleasant32
to your soul.
2:11 Discretion33
will protect you,
understanding will guard you;
2:12 to deliver34
you from the way of the wicked,35
from those36
speaking perverse things,37
2:13 who leave38
the paths of uprightness39
to walk in the ways of darkness,40
2:14 who delight in doing41
evil,42
they rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
2:15 whose paths43
are crooked44
and who are devious in their ways;
2:16 to deliver you45
from the adulteress,46
from the loose woman47
who uses flattering words,48
2:17 who leaves49
the companion50
of her youth51
and forgets the covenant made before her God.52
2:18 For she sinks down to death, which
is her house,53
and her paths lead to the spirits of the dead.54
2:19 None who go in55
to her will return,
neither will they attain the paths of life.
2:20 Thus56
you will walk in the way of good people57
and will keep the ways of the righteous.
2:21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless58
will remain in it;
2:22 but the wicked59
will be cut off60
from the land,
and the unfaithful61
will be torn62
from it.
