12:1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against1 Moses because of the Cushite2 woman he had married3for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 12:2 And they4 said, Has the LORD only5 spoken by Moses? Has he not also spoken by us?6 And the LORD heard it.7
12:3 Now the man Moses was very humble,8 more so than any man on the face of the earth.
The Response of the LORD12:4 And the LORD spoke immediately to Moses, and to Aaron, and to Miriam, The three of you come out to the tent of meeting. And the three of them came out. 12:5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood at the entrance of the tent; he then called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forward.
12:6 And the LORD said, Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you,9 I the LORD will make myself known to him in a vision, I will speak with him in a dream. 12:7 My servant10 Moses is not so; he is faithful11 in all my house. 12:8 With him I will speak face to face,12 openly,13 and not in riddles; and he will see the form14 of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? 12:9 And the anger of the LORD burned against them, and he departed. 12:10 When15 the cloud departed from over the tent; then Miriam became16 leprous17 as snow. And Aaron looked on18 Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.
The Intercession of Moses12:11 And Aaron said to Moses, Oh my lord,19 please do not lay this sin upon us, wherein we have acted foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. 12:12 Do not let her be like a dead person, whose flesh is half-consumed when he comes out of the mothers womb.
12:13 Then Moses cried to the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God. 12:14 And the LORD said to Moses, If her father had even spit20 in her face, would she not have been disgraced for seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after let her be received in again.
12:15 So Miriam was shut outside of the camp for seven days; and the people did not journey until Miriam was brought back in.21 12:16 Then after that the people moved from Hazeroth, and camped in the wilderness of Paran.
