7:1 And the LORD said to Noah, “Come, you and all your household, into the ark, for you¹ I have seen² as righteous in this generation. 7:2 You must take with you seven of every kind of clean animal,³ a male and its female,⁴ and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its female,⁵ 7:3 and also seven of every kind of bird of the air, a male and a female,⁶ to keep seed⁷ alive on the face of the earth. 7:4 For in seven days⁸ I will cause it to rain⁹ on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the ground every living thing that I have made.

7:5 And so Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.

7:6 Noah¹⁰ was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came¹¹ on the earth. 7:7 And Noah entered the ark along with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives, because¹² of the waters of the flood. 7:8 Pairs¹³ of clean animals and of animals that were not clean, and of birds, and of everything that moves on the ground, 7:9 male and female, came to Noah into the ark, just as God had commanded Noah. 7:10 And after the seven days the waters of the flood came on the earth.

7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep¹⁴ burst forth and the floodgates of heaven were opened. 7:12 And the rain fell¹⁵ on the earth forty days and forty nights.

7:13 On that very day Noah entered the ark, along with¹⁶ Shem, Ham and Japheth, his sons,¹⁷ and his wife¹⁸ and the three wives of his sons— 7:14 they, and every living creature after their kinds,¹⁹ and every animal after their kinds,²⁰ and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after their kinds,²¹ and every bird after its kind, every bird with wings.²² 7:15 Pairs of all creatures²³ that have the breath of life came to Noah into the ark. 7:16 Those that entered were male and female,²⁴ as God commanded him. Then the LORD shut him in.

7:17 And the flood came on the earth for forty days, and as the waters increased²⁵ they lifted the ark and raised it²⁶ above the earth. 7:18 The waters prevailed²⁷ and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark floated²⁸ on the surface of the waters. 7:19 And the waters prevailed tremendously²⁹ over the earth, so that³⁰ all the high mountains that were under all the entire heaven were covered. 7:20 The waters prevailed more than twenty feet when they covered the mountains.³¹ 7:21 And all flesh that moved on the earth—birds, animals, living creatures, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 7:22 Everything on dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life³² died. 7:23 So the LORD destroyed³³ every living thing that was on the face of the ground, people and animals³⁴ and creatures that move along the ground and birds of the air; they were wiped³⁵ from the earth. Only³⁶ Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived.³⁷ 7:24 And the waters prevailed over³⁸ the earth for a hundred and fifty days.
