7:1 And the LORD said to Noah, “Come, you and all your household, into the ark, for you1 I have seen2 as righteous in this generation. 7:2 You must take with you seven of every kind of clean animal,3 a male and its female,4 and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its female,5 7:3 and also seven of every kind of bird of the air, a male and a female,6 to keep seed7 alive on the face of the earth. 7:4 For in seven days8 I will cause it to rain9 on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the ground every living thing that I have made.

7:5 And so Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.

7:6 Noah10 was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came11 on the earth. 7:7 And Noah entered the ark along with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives, because12 of the waters of the flood. 7:8 Pairs13 of clean animals and of animals that were not clean, and of birds, and of everything that moves on the ground, 7:9 male and female, came to Noah into the ark, just as God had commanded Noah. 7:10 And after the seven days the waters of the flood came on the earth.

7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep14 burst forth and the floodgates of heaven were opened. 7:12 And the rain fell15 on the earth forty days and forty nights.

7:13 On that very day Noah entered the ark, along with16 Shem, Ham and Japheth, his sons,17 and his wife18 and the three wives of his sons— 7:14 they, and every living creature after their kinds,19 and every animal after their kinds,20 and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after their kinds,21 and every bird after its kind, every bird with wings.22 7:15 Pairs of all creatures23 that have the breath of life came to Noah into the ark. 7:16 Those that entered were male and female,24 as God commanded him. Then the LORD shut him in.

7:17 And the flood came on the earth for forty days, and as the waters increased25 they lifted the ark and raised it26 above the earth. 7:18 The waters prevailed27 and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark floated28 on the surface of the waters. 7:19 And the waters prevailed tremendously29 over the earth, so that30 all the high mountains that were under all the entire heaven were covered. 7:20 The waters prevailed more than twenty feet when they covered the mountains.31 7:21 And all flesh that moved on the earth—birds, animals, living creatures, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 7:22 Everything on dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life32 died. 7:23 So the LORD destroyed33 every living thing that was on the face of the ground, people and animals34 and creatures that move along the ground and birds of the air; they were wiped35 from the earth. Only36 Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived.37 7:24 And the waters prevailed over38 the earth for a hundred and fifty days.
