24:1 And Yahweh1 said to Moses, Come up2 to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from a distance.3 24:2 Moses4 alone may come5 near Yahweh, but the others6 must not come near,7 neither may the people go up with him.
24:3 And Moses came8 and told the people all Yahwehs words9 and all the decisions. All10 the people answered together11 and said, All the words that Yahweh has said we are willing to do.12 24:4 Then Moses wrote all the words of Yahweh. Early in the morning he built13 an altar at the foot14 of the mountain, and twelve standing stones15according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 24:5 And he sent young Israelite men,16 and they offered burnt offerings, and they sacrificed young bulls for peace offerings17 to Yahweh. 24:6 And Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and half of the blood he dashed against the altar.18 24:7 And he took the Book of the Covenant19 and read it in the hearing20 of the people; and they said, All that Yahweh has spoken we are willing to do and obey.21 24:8 So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it over22 the people, and said, This is the blood of the covenant23 which Yahweh has made with you in accordance with all these words.
24:9 Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up,24 24:10 and they saw25 the God of Israel; and there was under his feet26 something like a pavement27 made of sapphire, and clear like the heaven itself.28
24:11 But on the leaders of the Israelites he did not lay a hand;29 so they saw God,30 and they ate and they drank. 31
24:1232 And Yahweh said to Moses, Come up to me to the mountain and be there,33 and I will give to you stone tablets,34 namely35 the law and the commandments which I have written, in order that you may teach them.36 24:13 So Moses set out37 with38 Joshua his minister; and Moses ascended the Mount of God. 24:14 He said to the elders, Remain in this place for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here39 with you. Whoever has any issues40 can go41 to them.
24:15 Then Moses went up into the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. 24:16 And the glory of Yahweh resided42 on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days.43 On the seventh day he called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. 24:17 Now the appearance of the glory of Yahweh was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in plain view44 of the people. 24:18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud when he went up45 to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.46
