22:7 If a man gives to his neighbor money or articles15 for safe-keeping,16 and it is stolen from the mans house, if the thief is caught,17 he must repay double. 22:8 If the thief is not caught,18 then the owner of the house will be brought before the judges,19 to see20 whether he has laid21 his hand on his neighbors goods. 22:9 In all cases of illegal possessions,22 whether for an ox, or a donkey, or a sheep, or a garment, or any kind of lost item, about which someone says This belongs to me,23 the matter of the two of them will come before the judges,24 and the one whom25 the judges declare guilty,26 he will repay double to his neighbor. 22:10 If a man gives to his neighbor a donkey, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep, and it dies, or is hurt,27 or carried away28 without anyone seeing it,29 22:11 then there will be an oath to Yahweh30 between the two of them, that he has not laid his hand on his neighbors goods, and its owner will accept this, and he will not have to make it good. 22:12 But if it was stolen31 from him,32 he will make it good to its owner. 22:13 If it is torn in pieces, then he will bring it for evidence,33 and he will not have to make good that which was torn.
22:14 If a man borrows34 from his neighbor, and it is hurt or dies when its owner was not with it, he will surely make it good. 22:15 If its owner was with it, he will not have to make it good; if it was hired, what was paid for the hire covers it.35

22:25 If you lend money to any of52 my people among you who is needy, do not be like a money-lender53 to him; do not charge54 him interest.55 22:26 If you do take56 the garment of your neighbor in pledge, you must return it to him by the time the sun goes down,57 22:27 for it is his only covering, it is his garment for his body.58 With what else can he lie down?59 And60 when he cries out to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.
