Course Catalog

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Group Administrator: Academic Functions

The Course Catalog option (under Group Administrators > Academic > Academic Offerings) allows you to specify which IBS courses will be available to students in your Group. The course catalog is the master list of courses offered by your Group.

It is important to understand that the course catalog is a list of courses, not a list of items available for sale. Recall that a “course” in IBS refers to content (intellectual property) and has no particular format or media. Your course catalog may even contain courses that have not yet been produced; that is, they may be only a concept and may not yet exist as a product that can be sold.

When building your course catalog, you can select from courses that your Group has produced, as well as courses that other Publishers have made available to your Group through Selective or Open Sharing. To create or update your course catalog:

  1. From the sidebar menu, select Group Administrators > Academic > Academic Offerings > Course Catalog
  2. A table of all courses available to your Group will appear. You can sort this table by any of the column headings.
  3. You can see more information by pointing or “hovering” the cursor over certain entries in the table. For example:
    1. To see a brief description of each course, point to the course name.
    2. To see the definitions of abbreviations in the table, point to the abbreviation in the table header.
    3. To see the format(s) in which the course is currently available, point to the number in the Available Products column. A zero in this column means that the course has been defined but is not yet available as a product that can be sold.
  4. Click to put a checkmark in the Add column for any courses you want to add to your catalog. To remove a course that has been previously added, remove the checkmark.
  5. When you have made your selections, click the Update button.
