Facilitator Communication Centers (FCCs)

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Class Discussions > Moderator Functions

You will learn a lot as you go through the process of setting up and conducting an IBS class! We hope you will be willing to share what you've learned with other facilitators, especially those who are facilitating the same course. To assist with this sharing, IBS provides Facilitator Communication Centers (FCCs).

The FCCs are forums dedicated to sharing information among facilitators; they are not visible to students. There is one FCC for each language; within the FCC is a subforum for each course led by the facilitator. Each one begins with "FCC", followed by the numeric code for the course and the name of the course. For example, if you are facilitating the "Studying the Bible" course in English, you would look in the English FCC (FCC-en) for a forum called (1) Studying the Bible.

Each course's FCC contains three subforums:

  • Personal Best Class Activities is a place for you to share the activities that worked best in your class. What did you do that received the most enthusiastic response from your students, or generated the best discussions and original thinking?

  • Teaching Tips is for you to share other things that you found helpful as you led this class. Did you make any changes to the sequence of the material when you presented the course? Did you come up with any helpful insights about a particular topic? Have you found illustrations that are particularly applicable in your culture? Anything specific to this class that would help other facilitators who are teaching it (in your language) belongs in this forum.

  • Shared Resources is a great place to store supplemental course materials that you have found, so that other facilitators will be aware of them and can use them in their classes as well.

We hope you will take advantage of the FCCs, both as a reader and a contributor.
