Designating a thread as "important"

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Class Discussions > Moderator Functions

As a facilitator, you have the ability to designate certain threads in your forums as "Important Threads". This is called "sticking" a thread. The "stuck" thread(s) will remain at the top of your forum under the heading Important Threads, regardless of the sort order. All other ("unstuck") threads will appear under the heading Normal Threads.

For example, you may choose to write a post containing instructions for your students to write their biographies. You would want these instructions to remain at the top of the thread, while the students' entries are added below. Sticking the Instructions thread will accomplish this.

Important threads

To stick a thread:

If you are creating a new thread, before posting it, locate the Moderator Options (just below the body of the post). Click to select Stick Thread, then post as usual.Stick thread new

If you have already created the thread, and later decide you want to designate it as Important, you can. View the thread you want to stick, then near the bottom of the screen, select Stick / Unstick Thread from the Moderation Options dropdown menu. The thread will be "Stuck" (i.e., designated as Important) immediately.

To change an Important thread back to a Normal thread, follow the same procedure as above. When you select Stick / Unstick Thread from the Moderation Options menu, the thread will be "Unstuck" (i.e., designated as Normal) immediately.
