How can I transfer a student's post to a different forum?

Solution

IBS 2.7 > Class Discussions > Moderator Functions

Occasionally, you may find that one of your students has inadvertently posted a message in an inappropriate location. As the moderator of the forum, you can correct this situation as follows.

Moving a thread (including the top-level post and all of its lower-level replies, if any)

  1. View the thread that needs to be moved to a different subforum.
  2. Near the bottom of the screen, select Move / Copy Thread from the Moderation Options dropdown menu.
    Move thread
  3. Select the appropriate forum from the New Forum dropdown menu.
  4. For Method, select Move thread (unless you prefer one of the other options), then click Move / Copy Thread. The thread will now appear in the new location.

Moving a reply (which is not the top-level post in the thread)
If a student has inadvertently posted a reply instead of starting a new thread, you can move the reply so that it becomes a new thread, either in the same subforum or in a different subforum. If there are lower-level replies attached to the post you are moving, they will move with it.

  1. View the post that needs to be moved.
  2. In the upper right corner of the post, click to place a checkmark in the box to select the post.
    Select post
  3. Near the bottom of the screen, select Split Posts from the Inline Post Moderation dropdown menu. Then click the Go button.
    Split posts

  4. The Split Thread screen will appear. Note that the title of the post is now preceded by the word [Split]. You may delete this if you like.
    Finish split
  5. Select the appropriate forum from the New Forum dropdown menu, then click Split Thread. The post will now appear as a new thread in the correct location.
