Sending a Private Message

Sometimes, you may need to communicate privately with your facilitator or a fellow student, instead of posting your conversation where everyone in the class can see it. You can do this using the "Private Message" feature.

There are two ways to send a private message.

• If you are reading a thread and wish to reply privately to a post in the thread, click the PM button at the bottom of the post.
  
  This will take you into the private message editor. The recipient's username is filled in for you automatically.

• If you want to send a private message that is not related to a thread, you can send it from your User Control Panel (User CP):

1. From any screen in the Class Discussions, click User CP.
   
2. The User CP menu appears on the left side of your screen. Under Messenger, click Compose.
3. In the private message editor, type the username of your message recipient. You will need to know at least the first few characters of his/her username; after you've typed a few characters, a list of possible usernames will appear and you can choose the correct one from the list.
