Students, Facilitators, and Groups

Individuals need only register once to receive access to the Internet Biblical Seminary (IBS) courses. After registering, you will automatically receive Student status and may enter the IBS Student Center by submitting your unique Login User Name and Password. Each time you return to the IBS site you must log in to gain access to the Student Center. Facilitator and Group Coordinator statuses require additional registration/application processes, both accessed from the Student Center.

Students

All registered individuals automatically receive Student status. Each student's registration information is stored in his or her personal profile; students may select Edit Profile at any time from the Student Center to update their personal information. Students must proceed to Class Enrollment to sign up for the classes that they want to take, offered by facilitators of specific groups. After students enroll, they will be fully signed up for the selected class(es) and may begin taking the course(s) at any time from the Enter Classrooms option.

Facilitators

Facilitators are individuals identified to disciple a group of students — leading sessions, guiding discussions, and overseeing each student's progress. After registering with IBS, a person can "Request to Be a Facilitator" of a particular Church/Mission Group from the Student Center page. Requests must be approved by the group coordinator. An individual may serve as facilitator for only one group at a time.

Groups

Church or mission groups have the ability to set up their own curriculum, classes, schedule, and facilitators from the IBS Web site, using courses within the online seminary as their source teaching material. Groups may also submit their own courses for use within the IBS Web site. Once your church/mission group is established by a group coordinator, students who are a part of this group may register online and begin to enroll in your group-specific classes.

IBS Facilitator Applicant Requirements

In order to be a facilitator, the individual must have fulfilled the following requirements:

  1. Taken and passed one BEE-IBS course or have previous training qualifications
  2. Taken and passed a BEE-IBS facilitator training class
  3. Be of good character and above reproach
  4. Be approved by the church/mission group coordinator

Approval/Disapproval Notification and Recourse

When a facilitator applicant is approved or disapproved, the applicant will receive an automated email that will contain a message from the group coordinator. Once approved online, the registrant will obtain full access to the online facilitator administrative functions from the Student Center. If the registrant is disapproved, that person may request to be a facilitator again, at a later time, when requirements are believed to be met.

Facilitator Applicant Requirements for Church/Mission Groups

The process of facilitator registration for IBS church/mission groups is the same except for the requirements for being a facilitator. These requirements are the responsibility of the church/mission group to establish. Group coordinators provide approval for requests to be a facilitator. An individual may be a facilitator for only one group at a time.

Facilitator Responsibilities Within the Online System

A facilitator within the online system has specific administrative duties that will require attention outside of the normal teaching responsibilities. Among the Facilitator Options, the following functions will be available:

To Establish a Church/Mission Group

The group coordinator must be previously registered as an IBS student in order to "Register a Church/Mission Group" from the IBS Student Center. The person registering the group, by default, will become the designated group coordinator; after the necessary information is entered and submitted, the registration will be completed. An IBS administrator will review each church or mission group request; an approval/disapproval email will then be sent to the submitter. If approval is received, the group coordinator will be given Group Coordinator Options from their Student Center screen after Login. An individual may be a group coordinator for only one group at a time; however, it is possible to serve as both a group coordinator and a facilitator for the same church/mission group.

Group Curriculum and Class Schedule

Group Coordinator Options viewed from the group coordinator's Student Center will allow them to perform the functions necessary for setting up the group's curriculum and courses. The group coordinator may make revisions to the Church/Mission Group Profile at any time. For in-person facilitated classes the group facilitator must enter the date and time for the class before any students may register for the class. Group facilitators may choose to require approval for enrolling in their classes; in this case, the IBS system notifies students that they will be put on the Class Pending List and later notified when the facilitator approves/disapproves them. Classes will not be displayed from Class Enrollment to students if classes have reached the enrollment deadline or the student maximum as set by the group facilitator.

Submitting Group Courses

Church/mission groups may submit their own courses to be used within the IBS format. An IBS administrator must first provide approval for the group course. Any course added by a group will automatically generate a class for that course within the Independent Study and consequently will provide that course selection within the Facilitator Options if the course is marked available by the group coordinator. Groups are not required to submit their own courses; they can select from existing IBS courses or sign up to teach another registered group's courses. Further directions for submitting courses onto the IBS server requires direct communication between the group coordinator and the IBS administrator via phone and/or email.

Student Enrollment for Church/Mission Groups

Students registering to participate in a group-specific class must sign up (enroll) through IBS in the class offered by their selected group. The student may enroll in a combination of classes offered by groups and IBS. The student must Enter Classrooms from the Student Center in order to access the group classes as well as the IBS ones selected from Course Enrollment.
