Our Mission

The Internet Biblical Seminary (IBS) exists to provide course delivery options which encourage Christian discipleship training as a way of life for church leaders and lay people. IBS course content is designed to be completely self-contained and transferable; the goal of a student who completes an IBS course is to teach the same course to others, triggering the same multiplication encouraged by the Apostle Paul: "And what you have heard me say . . . entrust to faithful people who will be competent to teach others as well" (2 Tim. 2:2).

IBS supports total-person education, believing training for ministry should involve knowledge, ministry skills, and one's character — the whole person. For this reason, IBS encourages church-based training. Whenever possible, students are trained in the context of the life of a local church and their own spheres of influence. IBS seeks to cooperate with existing church and mission groups to provide discipleship training as a way of life.

Our goals over the next 10 years are to:

  1. Produce 35 university-level, multimedia-rich, interactive biblical training courses in 13 languages for delivery via paper, the Internet, and CD which can be used by other missions, local churches, Bible schools, and seminaries throughout the world.
  2. Train 100,000 students using the proven methods of Biblical Education by Extension.
  3. Create curriculum development technologies which are easy to use and a Web Site that can serve the needs of IBS partner missions as well as other missions, local churches, Bible schools, and seminaries worldwide.
  4. Train other missions, churches, and Bible schools how to convert their existing courses to the Web and provide them with a Web-based course management system for tracking, assessing, and reporting student progress.
